If you've watched this team throughout the season, you are aware of how lose they are with each other. It starts with handshakes during starting lineups and it continues all the way into postgame at the press conferences when the players jostle over who's going to have to sit in the middle seat. They're lose with each other, they're comfortable with one another.
"I think we're very relaxed," Andre Nation said. "We didn't come here--and we didn't change how we act. We got a lot of goofballs on the team, man. We just want to keep that."
Just as the 2004 Red Sox were a 'Bunch of Idiots' the 2012-2013 JMU basketball team is a 'Buch of Goofballs.' So who's the biggest?
"Oh, man," Nation said. "Arman Marks or Charles Cooke (aka Cook-E, pronounced 'cookie'). One of the two. I'm going to go with Charles Cooke, though."
While the Dukes ran a more laid back practice Thursday afternoon, Tom Crean ran intense drills and plays preparing for Friday. You could argue that this shenanigan like activity should be controlled or even cut out, but why? This team has brought something to JMU that no one had been able to do in 19 years. Why fix it if it ain't broke?
"Like I told them," Nation said. "I don't feel like the pressure is on us. I think we're really relaxed."
While everything has to click tomorrow for JMU to stand a chance at the upset, they remain confident that they can make history.
"But our kids, as I think you just noticed," Brady said. "They're having fun, which is really what this is about, the kids having fun, and hopefully we'll play our best basketball."
